It’s quite a mouthful — but also something truly special: the Technics Grand Class SL-1200G/1210G Master Edition turntable.
In essence, Technics is saying farewell to its legendary SL-1200 turntable (though the modern variants will remain in production for now). But they’re doing so with a bang — the Grand Class SL-1200G/1210G Master Edition. These two models feature an enhanced direct drive system powered by advanced Delta-Sigma driver electronics. The coreless motor has also been reworked and now includes a reinforced stator board for greater stability.
Each Master Edition model comes with a four-layer chassis made of aluminum and reinforced with a rubber-damped base. Of course, the iconic S-shaped tonearm is present — crafted from magnesium and, in this special edition, finished in a distinctive gold tone.
There’s no mistaking that these are special editions: the tonearm, headshell, and top plate all feature a gold-colored Technics logo, adding to their exclusive appeal.
The Technics SL-1200G Master Edition will be available starting January next year, priced at €5,499 and limited to 1,200 units. The SL-1210GME — identical apart from its black finish — is also priced at €5,499 and limited to 1,210 units.
