Danish manufacturer Gryphon Audio has now been around for 40 years, and—as is often the case with such milestones—that means it’s time for an anniversary model. Enter the Gryphon 40.
The Gryphon 40 is certainly an eye-catching piece of equipment thanks to its bold design. It is a limited-edition model created specifically to mark the company’s 40th anniversary. For now, little is known about the technical specifications of this celebratory amplifier. There’s nothing on the manufacturer’s website yet, but fortunately their Facebook page (see screenshot above) reveals a small glimpse. Based on the photos shown there, we can at least see a more-than-ample collection of inputs and outputs. We also spot two cover plates labelled “OPTIONAL MODULE,” suggesting that the integrated amplifier can be expanded with additional functionality.
Each unit comes with a special 40-year presentation package, including a luxurious leather-bound user manual, a personal 40th Anniversary letter from founder Flemming E. Rasmussen, and a genuinely signed sketch of an original design concept drawn by him. All in all, a very charming package. You will, however, be expected to dig quite deep into your wallet for the Gryphon 40, as it comes with a price tag of €28,322.00. Available from December 31. Strictly for true devotees of the brand, we’d say.
