Audio Group Denmark has launched the new AAVIK R-X88 series of phono preamplifiers, designed for MC, MM and optical cartridges.
The AAVIK R-X88 range consists of three models: the R-188, R-288 and R-588. According to the manufacturer, all three deliver reference-level performance. Particular attention has been paid to achieving the cleanest possible, ultra-low-noise signal path. To further suppress noise, the designs incorporate technologies such as Ansuz Active Tesla Coils, Square Tesla Coils, analogue dithering circuits and anti-aerial resonance coils. Naturally, an appropriately specified power supply is also part of the design.
The RIAA equalisation stage is fully discrete and built using extremely low-noise transistors, resulting in a signal-to-noise ratio of 94 dB at 1 kHz.
The enclosure has also been carefully considered. The chassis is constructed from a combination of wood, copper and steel, a mix intended to provide effective resonance damping.
