To prevent hollow sound and other acoustic issues, a diffuser such as the new GIK Acoustics Q11D can be useful in many scenarios.
The new GIK Acoustics Q11D is designed to diffuse frequencies between 570 Hz and 3900 Hz. The units are made from CNC-cut laminated wood. In terms of finish, you can choose from beech, walnut, black, and white. Fair is fair: the diffusers look quite attractive, although that is, of course, largely a matter of personal taste.
There are two versions available: a full-size model and a smaller version with half the dimensions. According to the manufacturer, the Q11D is suitable for use in studios, behind dipole or open-baffle loudspeakers, and in rooms where live recordings are made.
The full-size version measures 60 × 116 × 16 cm and costs €499. The smaller version measures 60 × 58 × 16 cm and is priced at €279.
