With the Cambridge Audio L/R series, there is something for everyone—from desktop setups to full living-room systems.
The new Cambridge Audio L/R series consists of three models: the L/R S, L/R M, and L/R X. As you would expect, the S is the most compact model and is ideally suited for desktop use, while the X is the largest version, designed for living-room applications. All models are active speakers featuring built-in amplification and DSP. Each speaker is carefully tuned to deliver optimal sound quality, but users can further fine-tune performance by automatically calibrating the speakers to their listening room using room correction.
Depending on the model, multiple Class D amplifier modules are employed. In the flagship L/R X, for example, six amplifiers are used, delivering a combined maximum output of 2 × 400 watts.
Inside, you’ll also find the fourth-generation StreamMagic streaming module. This supports popular streaming services such as Tidal Connect, Qobuz, Spotify Connect, and Amazon Music. The speakers are Roon Ready and also offer Apple AirPlay 2, Google Cast, and Bluetooth with aptX HD. For those who prefer wired connections, a variety of analogue and digital inputs are available as well.
Pricing for the speakers, which were unveiled at the recent CES, is as follows:
- L/R S: €499
- L/R M: €1,399
- L/R X: €1,999
All models will be available in five finishes: white, black, midnight blue, racing green, orange, or brown with real walnut veneer. Availability is expected later this year.
