Two new products from DS Audio for the discerning vinyl enthusiast: the innovative SC-001 ultrasonic record brush and the high-end TB-50 Tube Phono Equalizer.
Dutch Distributor Mafico drew our attention to both new DS Audio products. Let’s start with the rather unusual SC-001 ultrasonic record brush, developed under the motto: “Music begins before the needle drops.”
The SC-001 is the world’s first LP cleaning brush to make use of ultrasonic vibrations. Unlike conventional brushes, which mainly move dust across the record surface, the SC-001 generates approximately 11,000 vibrations per minute (183 Hz). According to the manufacturer, this allows fine dust particles to be loosened from deep within the grooves themselves. Its brush fibers were developed following extensive quantitative research into dust removal performance. The SC-001 also features a two-stage anti-static construction that significantly reduces static charge more effectively than traditional brushes. The brush module itself is replaceable as well, improving long-term usability.

TB-50 Tube Phono Equalizer
Next up is the DS Audio TB-50, a new hybrid phono equalizer specifically developed for the company’s optical cartridges. The design combines highly accurate solid-state equalization and amplification with a tube buffer/output stage for what is promised to be a rich and natural harmonic presentation.
The TB-50 uses the same ECC82 (12AU7) tubes found in the flagship TB-100, aiming to deliver a refined combination of speed, transparency and musical warmth. Its design also includes a dedicated heat dissipation channel, current-drive/current-transmission cartridge connectivity and adjustable tube illumination for additional visual ambiance.
