German high-end manufacturer AVM Audio is celebrating its 40th anniversary—a remarkable milestone in today’s audio industry. The occasion also brings plenty of good news for audiophiles.
Benelux distributor Mafico reports that, during the inaugural High End show in Vienna, AVM marked its anniversary with the introduction of several major new products.
Alongside the new flagship Ovation AS XL integrated amplifier (pictured above in its silver finish), the company also unveiled the Ovation MA 8.3 S monoblock power amplifier and the Ovation SA 8.3 S stereo power amplifier. With these additions, the new Ovation S Series is now complete.
Ovation MA 8.3 S and SA 8.3 S
The new MA 8.3 S and SA 8.3 S build upon the previously introduced CS 8.3 S all-in-one system, AS 8.3 S integrated streaming amplifier, PAS 8.3 S preamplifier and MP 8.3 S media player.
Both power amplifiers feature AVM’s latest tube input stage, fully balanced circuitry and powerful Class A/AB output stages.
The MA 8.3 S delivers up to 1,200 watts as a monoblock, while the SA 8.3 S produces 400 watts per channel. According to AVM, both models combine enormous power reserves with refined musicality and an exceptionally spacious soundstage.
Ovation AS XL
The undisputed centrepiece of the launch was the new Ovation AS XL.
This integrated streaming amplifier is based on the technology developed for the new power amplifiers and delivers more than 400 watts per channel. According to AVM, the “XL” designation refers not only to the amplifier’s substantial dimensions but also to the Roman numeral for 40, commemorating the company’s anniversary year.
The AS XL therefore takes its place as the new flagship model within the AVM range.
Limited Bronze Edition
To celebrate its anniversary, AVM is also introducing a limited Bronze Edition of selected CS 2.3 and AS 2.3 models from the Inspiration Series.
These special editions feature an exclusive bronze finish and are offered at significantly reduced prices. Production will be limited to a short period only.

Since its founding in 1986, AVM has manufactured all of its products at its own factory in Malsch, Germany.
With the completion of the Ovation S Series and the introduction of the AS XL, Mafico believes AVM demonstrates that traditional German craftsmanship can successfully coexist with modern streaming technology and uncompromising high-end performance.
