The clue is already somewhat hidden in the name: the Volumio Lineo 5 Duo is a dual linear power supply designed for the company’s own products.
The Volumio Lineo 5 Duo combines two power supplies in a single unit and features two independent outputs, each delivering 5 volts at up to 4 amps. Internally, each ‘channel’ has its own filtering and regulator circuitry. According to the manufacturer, ‘audio-grade’ capacitors are used for the filtering stage.
And—in case it wasn’t already clear—we are dealing with linear power supplies here. Consequently, any potential interference that switching power supplies can generate is kept out of the equation. At the heart of the unit is a substantial toroidal transformer, naturally specified to provide the required dual supply voltages and currents.
The idea is that you can power two Volumio devices simultaneously. As a result, that means one less mains cable and therefore a little less ‘clutter’ around your hi-fi system. The power supply is housed in a sturdy aluminium enclosure, which also acts as a heatsink.
The Lineo 5 is specifically designed for the Rivo Plus streamer transport. At the same time, you can also use it to power another compatible Volumio product, such as a Rivo Plus or Preciso.
