The new Final D8000 DC and its Pro version are flagship successors to the previous D8000 model.
Let’s start with the “DC” suffix added to the model number of the Final D8000 DC: it stands for Da Capo, an Italian musical term meaning “from the beginning.” With this, the manufacturer signals that a lot of new development has gone into these headphones. Both the ‘standard’ and Pro versions are planar magnetic models, featuring the in-house developed Air Filter Damping System (AFDS), which has also been optimized for these new models. Numerous other aspects have been improved compared to their predecessors, including a redesigned perforated grille, a newly developed diaphragm structure to reduce distortion and enhance bass performance, and more.
Washi Fabric
At the heart of the Final D8000 DC (Pro) is an ultra-lightweight aluminum diaphragm. Final manufactures these diaphragms without gluing the coil conductors. Additionally, the use of front-facing magnets has been eliminated, which increases the aperture ratio of the sound openings by 70%. This is intended to deliver a more open soundstage and better-defined high frequencies.
Its new ear pads are made with breathable foam, covered with special Washi fabric. The headband is also wrapped in this material, aiming to offer higher wearing comfort. The headphone housing itself is crafted from precision-machined aluminum-magnesium alloy.
Included Accessories and Differences
Each headphone comes with two detachable cables: a 1.5-meter OFC cable with a 4.4 mm plug and a 3-meter XLR cable. The Pro version includes an XLR cable with a silver braided core.
Another key difference between the standard and Pro versions lies in their tuning. The D8000 DC offers a neutral tuning, catering to listeners who prefer their music presented as untouched as possible. The Pro version delivers a slightly more pronounced bass response.
Both headphones are supplied in an aluminum transport case.
The Final D8000 DC is priced at €4299, and the D8000 DC Pro is also €4299. Proudly made in Japan.
