If you own a Cayin N6iii portable music player, you can now equip it with tube sound using the new T201 module.
The Cayin N6iii is a modular portable player, meaning you can swap out entire modules—including the DAC and output stage—to alter the sound signature. The newly introduced T201 module adds a tube stage to the mix. Users can switch between different modes, including a tube stage with feedback and a Tube Classic mode aimed at purists. There is also the option to use pure transistor amplification. The T201 features an AKM AK4497S DAC chip, while the tube section uses two Raytheon JAN 6418 pentodes. This is the fourth module released for the player so far. Installation is straightforward: simply remove the existing module and insert the T201—done.
The Cayin N6iii including a module is priced at €1,798, while the T201 module separately costs €549.
