Although We Are Rewind is of French origin, the company has released an ultra-limited Discogs edition of the WE-001. Intended exclusively for the US market, only 150 units have been produced. And given its relatively modest price of $180, it’s likely already sold out by the time you read this. Still, at least now you know it exists—and what its potential value might be should this portable cassette player (and recorder) end up on the collectors’ market, where prices will no doubt be significantly higher.
The included Discogs cassette is an empty C60 tape. The idea is for you to create your own mixtape. To make that possible, the WE-001 features a line input as well as a dedicated record button. The built-in battery provides up to 12 hours of playback, which is considerably more than the sets of batteries consumed by the classic Walkman and similar devices back in the day.
