Seven channels with 150 watts is of course delicious in a home cinema. Many a room will sit at his tax if this amplifier shows his muscles. The point is, however, that these wattages are useful in film. After all, that’s mainly about the dynamics. And not so much because of the continuous pressure as can be the case with music. In movies, 90% is often vocal work – that’s why a center is so crucial – and of the remaining 10%, 1% is needed for the blasts, explosions, colliding cars, shooting… You’ll get it.

Now our space is quite subdued and we have to turn the tap a little harder to sit at a nice volume. Fortunately, the B&K has no problem with that at all. And if we ask a little more. Think of an explosion, scream or a car crash… it stands. Like a house. No compression, no edges, grains or other nasty stuff. That’s pure control, pure power!

Music

Films benefit from the signature of the B+K. We hear a complete picture: spatial and controlled. When it comes to music, however, the whole thing is a little too dry. We don’t really feel it. If we then play the same song through our famous Bryston power amplifier, we hear the emotion come back. Now that’s an unfair comparison – the Bryston costs 3500 euros per channel, the B + K around 650, but it shows what kind of impact a power amplifier can have. Would a purist stereo power amplifier of 1300 euros play better? Who knows? We can imagine some models who can play more musically. But they’ll miss the punch and control in movies again… Choices, choices…
