It turned out to be an interesting test. Phono pre-amps differ greatly in playback and performance. Makes sense. However, know that the match to your cartridge is crucial. Therefore, always try a few before purchasing. In this test, the AVID turns out to be very impressive. We hear air, control, layering and wonderful tonal balance. The Gold Note is a wonderful all-rounder with especially pleasant dynamics. The MOON with separate power supply comes along very easily and lets us hear that once again power supply is everything. The Graham Slee probably still needs some flying hours: it came out somewhat less well in this test.
