We put the Elac Debut Reference DBR62 in the same place where almost all monitors sound good (in our room). And that is in an equilateral triangle of which each side is about three meters. So three meters between the speakers and diagonally three meters to the listening chair. That way, the music is nice between the speakers, we get a stable stereo image and if it’s all good and well, the music is also completely detached from the speakers.

The distance from the walls is about 80 cm. As you know we disconnect every monitor, except our ATC SCM19 V2, with a set of IsoAcoustics Aperta. And although the Elac Debut Reference DBR62 is a relatively large speaker, the tweeter comes out nicely at ear height because our stands are only 60cm high. It pays to invest time in placing your speakers and an arrangement in an equilateral triangle with side three meters is usually an excellent choice.

The Elac Debut Reference DBR62 replaces the Q Acoustics 3030i in the reference system below:

To keep everything in perspective we also listened to the Elacs with the affordable Keces E40 integrated amplifier that effortlessly controlled the Debut Reference. And it sounded pretty good too but with this speaker it’s important to find the right amplification to go from good sound to great sound. It is striking that this speaker needs sufficient control to keep that mid-driver in line.
