Tidal has announced that it will discontinue its app on Samsung TVs, effective July 8th this year, leaving the music streamer silent on TVs from this brand.
Are there many people who listen to Tidal’s music stream via their television? We doubt it. Tidal seems to have reached the same conclusion and is discontinuing its service on Samsung TVs. For 99.9% of listeners, this won’t be a disaster. You can still listen through an app or even a computer. Additionally, an increasing number of recent audio streamers, hi-fi systems, and portable speakers support Tidal directly on those devices. Otherwise, a digital connection to a DAC from your smartphone is always an option. Or go for AirPlay2, allowing you to still listen to Tidal on your Samsung TV. And of course, there’s always good old Bluetooth, though you won’t get the best possible sound quality with it.
