The dust surrounding the unexpected demise of Auralic has yet to settle, and speculation about what comes next is already in full swing.
In Germany too, Auralic’s collapse came as a major surprise. What’s perhaps even more surprising is that customers there remain interested in purchasing the brand’s products — though of course, that’s currently impossible until a potential buyer steps in. The asking price for the – at least in Germany – beloved manufacturer reportedly stands at two million dollars, which isn’t particularly high for a company of this kind.
If a takeover fails to materialize and the manufacturer ultimately disappears for good, German distributors have suggested making the software for Auralic’s streamers open source. That would at least allow the devices to continue receiving software maintenance and updates for a long time to come.
Meanwhile, Auralic’s European distributors have joined forces and agreed to continue providing service and support for the brand’s existing equipment.
