A trip through audio history: the Tannoy Studio Monitor Gold

This week we visited colleague Yung. Not at home, but at the Nieuwplaatz in Leiden. Yung has some special equipment there. Think of a pair of Tannoy Studio Monitor Gold 15 and a Yamaha B2 and C2 to amplify things. How does it perform? Hear it for yourself in the video!

Yung set up the Tannoy Studio Monitor Gold 15 in the largest studio space at the Nieuwplaatz in leiden. To give you an idea, we took some photos of the space. As you can see, the space is anything but empty. The acoustics have been addressed with some absorption and diffusion. However, not extremely.

We have incorporated two tracks into the video. This is to give you an idea of the playback of this particular system. We were not able to use the official sampling setup, as it is not mobile. And also rather pricey, so we’d rather not transport it. However: the Rode TF-5 with the separate XLR microphone adapter from the Panasonic GH5s is not bad either.

We hope you also find this a fun, spontaneous video of “a day in the life of…”!
