Without question, the first thing that stands out about the new Vivid Audio Moya M1 speakers is their unusual design. But ultimately, of course, it is the sound quality that matters.
The Vivid Audio Moya M1 speakers are completely handmade in-house. This ’of course’ uses a carbon fiber reinforced sandwich composite material characteristic of this manufacturer. It is a 5-way system with 13 separate drivers. Four separate bass cabinets are used, which immediately explains (and defines) the distinctive appearance of the speakers. Each of these modules has two in-house C225-100H 22.5 cm bass drivers. The magnets of these drivers are connected to a solid steel bar, which should prevent cabinet vibration.
Then there are the 10 cm midrange sidewards directed drivers, plus a 17.5 cm forward-facing midrange driver. Mid-high frequencies are handled by a diamond-like coated driver and finally we see a 26 mm tweeter. To distribute everything properly among the various drivers, a five-way, fourth-order Linkwitz-Riley crossover is used. The frequency range of the whole runs from 19 Hz to 42 kHz.
The European launch of the Vivid Audio M1 will take place at the upcoming Munich High End. The asking price is €450,000.
