Dan Clark Audio E3 headphones

The new Dan Clark Audio E3 is a completely re-engineered version of the Ether C Flow, a headphone with legendary status.

In any case, the Dan Clark Audio E3 has a striking appearance. If you take a quick look at it, it might appear to be an open headphone. But it’s really a closed one; the “open illusion” is because the ear cups are covered with ultra-strong Gorilla glass. The same strong and scratch-resistant material that is also used as the basis for smartphone protective glass, for example. Either way, in the end it’s all about sound. According to the manufacturer, very good insulation has been provided, so that “the outside world” does not or barely reaches your ears. At the same time, great attention has been paid to wearing comfort, for many hours of listening pleasure.

AMTS: no more standing waves

Another special feature of the Dan Clark Audio E3 is the use of the Acoustic Metamaterial Tuning System (AMTS). Until now, this technology could only be found in the manufacturer’s higher-priced top models. It is an inline system placed between converter and ear. Integrated waveguides, diffusion management and resonators should counteract standing high-frequency sound waves. This should result in a quiet and pleasantly digestible sound image. AMTS is individually tuned for each headphone for optimal performance. Magnetotates are used as drivers, while a dual-mode bass reflex aperture should provide nice low end frequencies.

The Dan Clark Audio E3 has a price tag of €2459.
