Technics SL-1200GR2 with digitally controlled direct drive

The Technics SL-1200GR2 is yet another new version of its most successful turntable, this time featuring improvements to the direct drive control system.

The Technics SL-1200 can undoubtedly be called legendary. It is probably one of the world’s most widely used turntables. Not only at home, as it was also a favorite device of DJs, for example, in (drive-in) discos and in radio studios. Meanwhile, we have already experienced a reissue of the SL-1200, thanks to the resurgent interest in vinyl. And now there is yet another new iteration of the player, in the form of the SL-1200GR2. The biggest innovation here concerns the control of the direct drive motor, which is now completely digitally arranged.

No more clogging

The digital control should prevent fluctuations in rotational speed (better known by the term “clogging”). It uses delta-sigma modulation via its own patented amplifier (the JENO Engine). The manufacturer says lead to a significant improvement when it comes to constant speed, according to the manufacturer. Also improved is the power supply of the Technics SL-1200GR2. This time a multi-stage “silent” power supply is provided, coupled with a noise reduction system.

The Technics SL-1200GR2 is available in silver and black (the black one has SL-1210GR2 as its type number). Available from October this year at a price of €2000.
